Power Controls

Control your VPS power state directly from the Hostcore dashboard.

Power Actions

Access power controls from your instance management panel at hostcore.cloud.

StartPower on the server

Using Power Controls

  1. Log in to hostcore.cloud
  2. Navigate to Dashboard → Instances
  3. Select your VPS
  4. Use the power control buttons

Graceful vs Force Actions

Graceful Shutdown/Restart

Section titled “Graceful Shutdown/Restart”
  • Sends ACPI signal to the operating system
  • Allows services to stop properly
  • Saves data and closes files cleanly
  • Recommended for normal operations

Force Stop/Restart

Section titled “Force Stop/Restart”

Use force actions when:

  • Server is frozen or unresponsive
  • Graceful shutdown times out
  • Operating system is not responding

Server States

StatusDescription
RunningServer is powered on and operational
StoppedServer is powered off
RebootingServer is restarting
StartingServer is booting up
StoppingServer is shutting down

Boot Time

Section titled “Boot Time”

After starting your server:

  • Linux: Usually boots in 30-60 seconds
  • Windows: May take 2-3 minutes to fully boot

Troubleshooting

Server won’t start

Section titled “Server won’t start”
  • Check if any maintenance is scheduled
  • Verify your account is in good standing
  • Contact support if issue persists

Server won’t stop

  • Wait 2-3 minutes for graceful shutdown
  • Use Force Stop if server remains unresponsive
  • Access via VNC Console to investigate

Server keeps rebooting

Section titled “Server keeps rebooting”
  • Access via VNC Console to check boot logs
  • May indicate OS or filesystem issues
  • Consider OS Reinstall if unrecoverable
